You wouldn't have heard
the rains just now
pummeling the roof and windows
accompanied by abrupt winds.
Why would you?
Miles away in the middle of night,
these rains will not reach you.
Never.
And as quickly as they came,
quickly too they go.
Leaving me
once again in the quiet
with this dim light
typing words
that will not reach you.
Never.
