Sheets of Paper

They are just sheets of paper
I remind myself
as I sift through a box
filled with paper brightened
by finger paint or crayons,
noodles or glitter.
Just sheets of paper
covered with a child's
scribbling, doodling,
coloring or designs.
Papers from more than
two decades ago.
Simple papers
that were once touched
by my little girl
as she explored
childhood.
Sheets of paper.
Once touched
that I touch now
because I can't touch she.
But she touched them once
so now
they touch me.
