In these early morning hours
the house is quiet.
The only sounds are those
of the dog's panting,
the battery clock's motion,
my own breathing.
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.
On occasion the refrigerator
or basement dehumidifier kick in
disturbing the tranquility only partially
of a Buddhist moment.
As I sit meditating
in this peaceful abode
where wife and children sleep,
I realize that no four walls,
however, serene
can ever permanently keep out
the world of sadness, and beauty,
beyond.
So I pray:
God grant me the serenity...
the house is quiet.
The only sounds are those
of the dog's panting,
the battery clock's motion,
my own breathing.
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.
On occasion the refrigerator
or basement dehumidifier kick in
disturbing the tranquility only partially
of a Buddhist moment.
As I sit meditating
in this peaceful abode
where wife and children sleep,
I realize that no four walls,
however, serene
can ever permanently keep out
the world of sadness, and beauty,
beyond.
So I pray:
God grant me the serenity...
