On a starful night
with the chill of fall,
I ponder:
Your complexity,
my simplicity.
Your universality,
my singularity.
While searching,
thus, I find:
a poor child's extended belly
a homeless man's overflowing cart
a lonely addict's bruised arms
a terminal patient's sodden bed
It is as if
You are telling me
Look not to Thy vastness
but to Your compassion within
my heart.
with the chill of fall,
I ponder:
Your complexity,
my simplicity.
Your universality,
my singularity.
While searching,
thus, I find:
a poor child's extended belly
a homeless man's overflowing cart
a lonely addict's bruised arms
a terminal patient's sodden bed
It is as if
You are telling me
Look not to Thy vastness
but to Your compassion within
my heart.
