Drinking a Beer with Neil

"Oh to live on Sugar Mountain*"
& drink a beer with Neil.
Like I'm doing now
except for real.
Neil on my 12" LP
not the same
as the person
in the flesh.
But I don't want to be
leavin' Sugar Mountain too soon,
so, I am drinking a beer
and pretending I'm with Neil.
Live Rust,
beer,
and rock and roll
never die.

Empty Nests

Empty nests
in naked trees.
This bird has flown.
Leaving me
nothing here
but empty.

Stalactites

The thoughts within me
hidden (or I hide them) from
the outside.
Growing within
like stalactites,
melancholic drippings
dangling from the brain,
overshadowing the heart.
My inner world
of depression,
a cavern
of stalactites.
