On the Saturday,
day before the Easter feast,
I awaken to the morning paper's
religion section replete
with the images of
John Shelby Spong,
liberal poster boy,
and some evangelical conservative
minister named White.
Their controversy dejure:
Is the resurrection
a literal or figurative event?
Spong says:
You're the heretic.
White says:
You're the heretic.
I say:
Which one is
less filling
and which one is
tastes great?
Then I pour another beer.
And by the way high brows,
what difference does it make?
There are people starving,
aides victims dying,
women and children being brutalized,
wars flaring
and your arguing about
theological pinheadism?
For God's sake.
Enough of the commercials already.
Let's get back to the game.
P.S. Tastes great.
